The Special Ops Unit

The SOU – Special Ops Unit – was HelixCorp’s elite tactical division, operating under the command of Adam Kessler, the megacorp’s head of security. Its operatives were handpicked veterans, each a specialist in their field. Missions were assembled with surgical precision: sometimes only two operatives for reconnaissance, other times a dozen or more when overwhelming force was required.

Each operative wore a precursor to the Aetherion combat exosuit: a less advanced but still formidable system of adaptive living polymer that conformed to its wearer’s physiology and combat signature. Integrated loadouts, modular weapons systems, and deployable assets such as drones and jetpacks allowed the SOU to execute operations with ruthless efficiency.

Their missions spanned the full spectrum of HelixCorp’s interests: covert retrievals, targeted eliminations, and high-intensity engagements in hostile zones. Before the emergence of the Aetherions, the SOU had been the sharp end of HelixCorp’s will. Afterwards, they became the stabilising framework around them, providing structure, support, and tactical control to ensure the Aetherions operated at maximum effectiveness.

What defined the SOU most, however, was not capability but compliance. They did not question the purpose of their missions. Chain of command was absolute, and orders were executed without deviation. Morality was not a variable in their equation.

Only outcome mattered.
