Born to middle-class American migrants who fled their declining homeland for Xin-Beijing, Monica was a victim of bullying throughout her childhood. She was often teased and humiliated for her ties to the nation that had both started and lost World War III. In spite of this, she learned from an early age to steel herself, focusing on what she could achieve while blocking out the voices that sought to belittle her. She graduated at the top of her class, became a champion debater, a professional violinist, an operatic soprano, and a champion pistol shooter.

Yet Monica never allowed her bullies to have the last word. At seven, she quietly orchestrated a series of events that ended with her tormentor falling into a pond, humiliating him enough to end the bullying. At thirteen, she did the same to another through an elaborate scheme that introduced allergens into the almost-sterile home of the bully who suffered from severe allergies. As a corporate intern, she not only navigated and survived the manoeuvring of a chauvinistic, egocentric middle manager, but outplayed him in office politics and came within reach of becoming his superior.

It came as no surprise, then, when Rhames - constantly searching for exceptional minds to propel HelixCorp into global leadership in climate technology - noticed Monica and promptly recruited her. Thriving under Rhames’ empowering leadership, Monica became an unstoppable force within the organisation, winning deals, securing contracts, and running business operations with surgical efficiency. By the age of thirty-three, she had been appointed Chief Financial Officer of HelixCorp, becoming an indispensable ally whom Rhames could scarcely do without.
