Jace Ruan - Herald. Diplomat. Suave.

Jace could sell dirt to settlers in the Scorch Zones.

Proudly Irish and seemingly born with a silver tongue, he could make the worst of deals sound like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. His words were always laced with honey - facts and flourish blended in such perfect proportions that people found it difficult to disagree with him. His infamous catchphrase, “you understand?”, had converted countless sceptics into believers, if only because nobody wanted to appear less intelligent in the wake of the question.

He was discovered in the Iberian Federation, somewhere in Barcelona, performing stand-up comedy at a popular open-mic pub with controversial material sympathetic to Catalonian separatists. His act angered authorities, yet somehow, rather than being deported back to the United Kingdom, he was offered a position as a negotiator for the Federation instead.

After repeatedly defusing Catalonian separatist demands for sovereignty with nothing more than carefully chosen words, Jace caught the attention of Sebastian Rhames. Impressed by his ability to influence and persuade, Rhames recruited him as HelixCorp’s Chief Marketing Officer, leveraging his charisma to convince an increasingly sceptical world that a megacorporation could still be humanity’s greatest ally.

Jace’s early life in fragmented Europe remained a mystery, as his own accounts were inconsistent and always wrapped in playful anecdotes. His husband, Hans, suspected that Jace might be a descendant of British royalty - perhaps even a close cousin of the reigning Queen Mary III - though Jace himself had never confirmed nor denied the rumour.
