Commander Adam Kessler

Adam was born in post-war America and abandoned as an infant. He was taken in and raised by a militant sect determined to resist the dissolution of the United States, where he was trained in combat tactics from the moment he was old enough to hold a weapon. Though ruthless and often reliant on guerrilla methods to achieve their goals, the sect taught Adam far more than warfare. Alongside lessons in discipline and duty, they instilled in him the meaning of being human: to protect the vulnerable, help the helpless, and stand up for the powerless... all while America reorganised itself into sovereign city-states that shielded the rich and powerful while abandoning everyone else.
By his teenage years, Adam’s adopted family had finally disbanded after being relentlessly hunted by the forces of the newly formed city-states. He wandered the Scorch Zones for several years, moving from one settlement to another and working as a guard for travelling parties. His combat prowess soon attracted the attention of a prominent high-tech mercenary group operating across the region, who recruited him into their ranks. There, his knowledge, discipline, and experience proved invaluable on missions and contracts alike. The group’s continued success eventually earned them contracts from the world’s largest city-state - Xin-Beijing.
The group became Xin-Beijing’s premier tactical asset, completing objectives with precision and consistently favourable outcomes, whether in the light or beneath the shadows. Although Adam detested taking part in morally grey operations, his deeply ingrained sense of discipline and duty often prevailed, convincing himself that every compromise served a greater good.
A chance encounter with HelixCorp’s founder, Sebastian Rhames, would change Adam’s life forever. He impressed the corporate titan so profoundly that Rhames personally contracted the entire mercenary group simply to recruit him. Adam ultimately accepted the offer, becoming HelixCorp’s Head of Security.
